Once back at school and altogether again, the Allen Centre took the last few weeks of the term to look closely at the brain.
We delved into the following questions:
- Where does our brain live?
- What does our brain do? Is it REALLY the boss of us?
- What part of our brain does what?
- Does finding out about our individual styles of learning REALLY help us at school?
- How can we look after our brain so that we make sure it works at its best for us?
- Scientists v's Theorists - is the hype really true?
- How can we trick the brain - some very cool experiments to fool your brain into thinking quite the opposite to what you see!
- Brainy bendy puzzles - how to encourage your brain to think HARD!
Below are lots of examples of us getting up close and curious to all things in our heads.
How do brain cells communicate?
This week we have learnt all about how our brain communicates with the rest of the body. These main communicating cells are called Neurons – nerve cells. There are many different types of neurons in the brain. These are the cells that receive messages from your body. The messages are received along your nervous system.
Below are some children who made their own neurons to take home.
