CO2 Cars 2019

Each year Room 5 and I make and race CO2 cars.  We just love it.  Over the year the excitement builds as children discuss and make plans about what car design they think will go the fastest.

FIRST  though, one needs to learn how to use the tools safely.  We practice using a craft knife safely by competing in "The Carrot Car Challenge".  Can you make a car out of one carrot and two kebab sticks?  The car must have all four wheels that turn on axles to run successfully down a ramp!

Next comes designing onto grid paper our thoughts and plans.

After this is the very busy time for shaping our cars.  We use all sorts of tools such as files, potato peelers, sandpaper, craft knives, and glue!

Next it is time to fit the wheels:

Before the most favourite part of all - SPRAY PAINTING.....

If you can get the lid off!

Success!

First, the undercoat.  It is really important to be very careful and patient.

The amazing creations begin to take shape!

RACE DAY

Race day was finally here!    Everyone was very excited!
